The Rubber Association of Indonesia (GAPKINDO) successfully held the XIX GAPKINDO Congress at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Bali Nusa Dua, July 20-21, 2022. The Congress under the theme “Synergy to Build a Sustainable and Equitable National Rubber” was attended by the central and branch board of GAPKINDO as well as the head of member companies in GAPKINDO.

In his speech when officially open the Congress, the Chairman of GAPKINDO, Mr Alex Kurniawan Edy, stated that according to the mandate of the Articles of Association and Bylaws, the Congress is the highest forum in the GAPKINDO organization, which is held in normal situations every three years.

However, said Mr Alex, during the 2018-2021 GAPKINDO Board period, conditions were outside normal, namely the occurrence of a COVID-19 pandemic, starting from March 2020 until now, although the intensity has decreased. This condition causes the XIX Congress, which was original to be held in July – August 2021, can only be held on July 20-21, 2022.

Mr Alex hopes that the XIX Congress will result in a decision that will bring the GAPKINDO organization forward to become a stronger organization capable of protecting all its members in the unfavourable conditions of the national and global rubber industry.

Mr Alex Kurniawan Edy emphasized that the role of GAPKINDO is increasingly essential and needed both within organizations, between agencies/associations/government and internationally. For this reason, he expects all management and members to work even harder to face the challenges and opportunities ahead by working hand in hand and holding on tight and compact towards improving Indonesia’s position in fulfilling and maintaining the sustainability of the national and global rubber industry.
